New to Tango?

This fall we are opening one beginner cohort! No experience necessary, no partner necessary. If you’re unable to make it, please be on the lookout for expanded beginner options in January 2025.

Both Tango 101 and Tango 102 will take place at 61 Main Street, Ottawa (see our parking map).

TANGO 101
Sundays from 1:00 to 2:30 PM
September 22, 29; October 6, 20, 27

Tango 101 is for you if you are a complete beginner to tango or you have not danced for many years.

You’ll learn:

  • about creating a great tango embrace,
  • your first figures,
  • a brief bit about the history of tango and its cultural context,
  • and how to be a good tango citizen!

All students will learn both roles from the beginning, no exceptions.

$125 per person, includes entrance to our Sunday Práctica

TANGO 102
Sundays from 1:00 to 2:30 PM
November 3, 10, 17, 24; December 1, 8

You’ll learn:

  • cross system vs. parallel system
  • how to create ochos and simple paradas

$125 per person, includes entrance to our Sunday Práctica
As this is a progressive class, no drop-ins permitted.

Some important information:

SHOES: Please bring a pair of clean indoor shoes to change into. If you have dance shoes, that’s great. If you have neither, a pair of cozy socks will suffice..

HEALTH AND SAFETY: Please stay home if you are feeling unwell or are coughing or sneezing. There are hand sanitizer and masks on hand, should you need them.

NO PARTNER NECESSARY if you are okay with switching partners. If you are not okay with this, you must attend with a partner that you know and trust, and you don’t have to switch if you don’t want to.
