Sunday Classes

All Sunday Classes take place at 61 Main Street.

There are three time slots, corresponding to 3 levels. Click on your level to go to the classes on offer:

BEGINNERS

Tango 101
Sundays, 1:00 to 2:30 PM
June 14, 21, July 5, 12, 19, 26, August 9, 16

Your first tango classes will give you the foundations for exploring this creative, improvisational social dance. You will learn:

  • How to create a great tango embrace
  • Your first figures
  • A brief bit about the history of tango and its cultural context
  • How to be a good tango citizen!

All students will learn both roles from the beginning. As this is a progressive class, no drop-ins permitted.

Price:

  • Early Bird until June 8: $225 per person, includes HST.
  • After June 8: $250 per person, includes HST.
  • 30-and-under: $115 per person, includes HST.
  • Your class fees include the práctica at 5: 15 PM for the duration of your class, Thursday Tango Labs starting in July 2026, and one 45-minute private session with Jewel.

IMPROVER / ALL-LEVELS

The Embrace, Part 1
Sunday, 2:30 – 4:00 PM
June 7

Whether it’s your first time or your millionth time in embrace, if there is anything we learned from our time in Buenos Aires, it’s that there is always room to develop your embrace. Exercises and partner work that will get you comfortable in any kind of embrace.

Price: $26 per person, includes HST. Price includes the práctica at 5:15 PM. If you take Part 1 and Part 2, pay just $35 per person.

Pivots, Ochos, and Turns
Sundays, 2:30 – 4:00 PM
June 21, July 5, 12, 19, 26

It’s time to get down to the business of pivots, ochos, and turns. Improve your balance and connection with your partner, and learn classic figures that are useful for the social dance floor. This will be the most useful class you take in 2026.

Price: $130 per person, includes HST. Price includes the práctica at 5:15 PM for the duration of the class.

Exactly what the title says. We will have fun adding some ending poses and opportunities for drama and fun to your dance.

Price: $52 per person, includes HST. $26 for those who also register for Tango 101 or the 4:00 PM class. Price includes the práctica at 5:15 PM for the duration of the class.

Vals Challenges (with Marcel)

All Levels (experience with cross system is best)

Vals is Marcel’s favourite genre and he prefers to fly! Come gain speed and fluidity in your vals.

The Embrace, Part 2: Getting Closer

June 7

We’ll be playing with textures and circularity as we develop more clarity in communication and adaptability.

Gems from Buenos Aires
Sundays, 4:00 – 5:15 PM

Jewel is learning a lot from her trip to the tango homeland, and she’s excited to share some of it with everyone! Get a glimpse of what’s happening in tango these days, with ideas about different techniques, versatility, comfort, and uniqueness.

Price: $78 per person, includes HST. Price includes the práctica at 5:15 PM for the duration of the class. Drop-in $28 per class.
