Sunday Classes

All Sunday Classes take place at 61 Main Street.

There are three time slots, corresponding to 3 levels. Click on your level to go to the classes on offer:

BEGINNERS

Tango 101
Sundays from 1:00 to 2:30 PM
January 18, 25, February 1, 8, 22, March 1, 8, 15, 22, 29

Your first tango classes will give you the foundations for exploring this creative, improvisational social dance. You will learn:

  • How to create a great tango embrace
  • Your first figures
  • A brief bit about this history of tango and its cultural context
  • How to be a good tango citizen!

All students will learn both roles from the beginning. As this is a progressive class, no drop-ins permitted.

Price:

  • Early Bird until January 12: $250 per person, includes HST.
  • After January 12: $270 per person, includes HST. You can pay in 2 installments.
  • Your class fees include the práctica at 5: 15 PM from January 18, and Thursday Tango Labs starting in February 2026.

Tango 102
Sundays from 1:00 to 2:30 PM
April 13, 20, 27, May 4

We will continue your journey into tango by getting more familiar with cross system and the back ocho. This class will increase your fluency and prepare you for the social dance floor.

Price: $105 for 4 classes, includes HST.
Your fees include the Sunday Práctica at 5:15 PM for the duration of the class.

IMPROVER / ALL-LEVELS

Milonga Basics
Sundays, 2:30 – 4:00 PM
February 22, March 8, 15

Milonga is the joyful cousin of tango; the steps and structures you already know, but the speed and “feel” are different. Much of what you will learn will also apply to rhythmic tango orchestras as well.

Starting at this level, students can choose a role they are most comfortable in. Switch role learning is still possible. Registration is key, so we can provide role balance in class.

Turns Clinic with guest Francis Cloutier
Sunday, 2:30 – 4:00 PM

Turns give leaders and followers of all levels a lot of trouble. Is it a timing issue? Is it your technique that needs help? Let’s create good habits to allow for more dynamic and musical turns. 

Pre-requisite: You’ve learned a few turns and need some help improving them.

Price: $35 per person (incl. HST). Your class fees include the práctica at 5:15 PM.

Intro to the In-Between
Sundays, 2:30 – 4:00 PM
March 22, 29, April 12, 19, 26

Foot catches, barridas, ganchos, simple sacadas for those who are starting their tango journey, and those who need a review of these fundamental moves. Technique for leaders and followers. It’s time for the fun and games of tango!

Price: $130 per person, includes HST. $95 for those who also register for Tango 102 or the 4:00 PM class. Price includes the práctica at 5:15 PM for the duration of the class.

INTERMEDIATE / ADVANCED

Alterations with guest Francis Cloutier

These changes of direction create endless possibilities on the social dance floor. You’ll learn how to create clear transitions, maintain connection, and use alterations musically to add variety and surprise to your dance.

Follower Power and Role Fluidity

Let’s celebrate International Women’s Day with this special Women’s-Only Tango Class. Explore how the line between leading and following is not black and white, and how that helps us create more satisfying tango experiences. Level: For intermediate dancers and up. Leading experience not necessary. For all those who identify as women.

Intro to the Extreme Axis Elements
Sunday, 4:00 – 5:15 PM

Simple single-axis turns, colgadas, and volcadas. Ideal intro for those wanting to explore these elements more in the future, and for those who want to brush up on their technique in these moves.
