Tomás Howlin: January 2023

NOTE: Please use this form to register for workshops. You will receive payment info after you’ve registered.

We are pleased to once again welcome our dear friend and favourite guest teacher Tomás Howlin to Ottawa.

Tomás is an Argentine Tango dancer, performer and teacher, originally from Buenos Aires and based in Montreal. Adored by students of all levels, Tomas shares his 30 years of experience at workshops and festivals in Buenos Aires, in Canada, and across the U.S. (Read more about him at his website.)

We are once again pumped that he’ll be visiting for two weekends in a row: January 14-15 AND 21-22.

Highlights

We are happy to bring you a well-rounded program that addresses subtle concepts, steps, and creativity – all of which are important for improving our community’s social dancing as a whole!

We are also offering more intensive classes, which will give learners a chance to absorb more and to go deeper into the topics.

  • The intensive for dancers of all levels is “Close Embrace.” 2 workshops, 2 hours each. The beginning of the year is a great time to tune-up your embrace and set the tone for the rest of 2023!
  • The intensive for intermediate/advanced dancers is “Sacada Evolution: Circular dynamics for turns and turning combinations .” 2 workshops, 2 hours each. This will more or less be a continuation of the Sacada Intensive from May 2022.
  • The pre-milonga workshop is “Create your own dance.” Dancers of all levels will learn how to use shape, height, and dynamics to communicate and gain greater expressive possibilities.
  • The additional workshop for intermediate dancers will be “Milonga Traspie.”
  • Tomás will be a guest to our Tango 104/204 series. He’ll step in to tweak and improve on what our beginners are learning! If you are interested in joining and are not already registered in our regular class sessions, please make a note of it when you register.

Registration

To ensure the best experience for all participants:

  • all classes will be role-balanced
  • level designations (all level, intermediate, advanced) will be imposed
  • class sizes will be limited

Please use this form to register for classes. You will receive payment info after you’ve registered.
