Tomás Howlin: April-May 2022

NOTE: Please use this form to register for workshops. You will receive payment info after you’ve registered.

We are pleased to once again welcome our dear friend and favourite guest teacher Tomás Howlin to Ottawa.

Tomás is a professional Argentine Tango dancer, performer and teacher. Adored by students of all levels, Tomas shares his 30 years of experience at workshops and festivals in Buenos Aires, in Canada, and across the U.S. (Read more about him at his website.)

We are extra happy that he will come for two weekends in a row for this visit: April 30-May 1 AND May 7-8. What a way to make up for the time we’ve lost since 2020!

Highlights

For this visit, there is something for everyone!

  • All-level classes for this visit are “Tango Play: Foot catches and releases” and “Dancing Subtle Milonguero.” Perfect for the social dance floor!
  • Tomás’ workshop progression for intermediate/advanced dancers is “Sacada Progression: From struggling for space to finding your place.” 2 workshops, 2 hours each.
  • Tomás will be giving a multimedia presentation called “Everything You Wanted to Know about Tango” before the May 7 milonga. It’ll be a wide-ranging talk about all aspects of tango, and there will be some time for a bit of Q&A as well.
  • Tomás is coming in as a guest to our Tango 102 series. He’ll step in to tweak and improve on what our beginners are learning! If you are interested in joining and are not already in Tango 102 (which is close to full), please make a note of it when you register.

Registration

To ensure the best experience for all participants:

  • all classes will be role-balanced except for the Presentation before the May 7 milonga
  • level designations (all level, intermediate, advanced) will be imposed
  • class sizes will be limited
  • as of this update (April 25, 2022), a well-fitting mask will be required to attend all events

Please use this form to register for classes. You will receive payment info after you’ve registered.

If you have any questions about this event, please contact us via email.
