We are happy to have Luis López with us in Ottawa again, after 2 years!
He will be teaching our community more about Chacarera, the Argentine folklore dance that is becoming more and more popular amongst tango dancers.
An internationally-recognized Argentine Folklorist, Luis Lopez has traveled all over the world to teach and perform. Originally from Santiago del Estero, in northern Argentina (the birthplace of chacarera, in fact), he started dancing folklore at the age of 6. Moving from Argentina to Europe and eventually to Montreal, he performed with the Cirque du Soleil as a permanent member for nearly 30 years. As a dancer, percussionist, and choreographer, Luis also toured with other productions and his own dance company. Now an independent artist, he still teaches and performs folklore and tango.
It is truly a privilege to have an artist of his caliber with us!
